Vasthi,
Well said. It sounds to me that you have acknowledged the loss of 9/11. It is not selfish to want to focus on living and joyful memories that the park holds for you. I understand what you are saying and would be irritated myself.

There is a peace that only He can provide. It will not be found in flags, memorials, pomp and ceremony. It is found in the livingroom at His feet, in His prescence when the distractions of flags, memorials, pomp and ceremony fade away and all that is left is His voice. He holds close our lost loved ones. We must live in a way that glorifies His work and not that of the devil.

Can we focus on celebrating the lives that were lost rather than the tragic, hateful circumstances by which they were lost? Will there ever be forgiveness? Is there a point where we remember our loved ones but let go of the anger? Is our anger being continually fueled unwittingly in the name of remembrance? It seems to me that the devil wins out every time that the anger is refueled and the fire of hate burns strong.

Every time I here the statement "We will never forget!", there is a well-justified anger behind it. I think it might sound better if stated, "I will never forget Fred Morrone, he was a man who loved the Lord. I will miss him always.".

Five years and the pain is still there. The pain is only soothed by His grace; but the pain is still there. I know the pain is necessary, for it shines a light on evil and it increases our capacity for genuine love; but those flags...those flags....

Great job EEP!

Hi Friend,
Your letter touched me because I do not need to see flags to remember 9/11. Everyday I wake-up I remember because I say to the Lord why did you spare me. I think of the friends that I lost and say what made me different Father. My friend Winston was a spirit filled man of God and only had been back working at the Trade Center one day(He had been stationed at another Blue Cross facility for three years. God is in total control and the questions will never be answered, but for those who were truly impacted by the attack the memory is forever just not on an anniversay. Thanks for sharing your heart. I love you Debbie

Wow Vasthi! I know what you mean. It still seems like it could not have happened! It is too big for one's mind. Yet, we have to remember. The world is a different place! I have to remember also that God is in control.

Vasthi,

It was great to read about my own, i got to re-live my time with your son (my nephew) and your husband (my brother) in Nicaragua and confirm that they were in fact changed by the experience.

God bless!

I don't want to watch the clips, the movies, the rehash. I don't think I'll ever forget that morning...those days and months afterward as more stories and lives were revealed.

I guess we all remember in different ways; maybe too, some people are afraid we'll forget and think we need visual reminders.

Even watching old movies, pre-terrorist attack ones, I remember again...when the movie is set in NYC and they show the Twin Towers that are no more.

I certainly will honor anyone's way to remember. As Vashti said, we all grieve and mourn in different ways.
