News for You

News For You:

1) I recently revamped my blog. It is now called Violet Voices and the focus is on letting YOU tell your story. I figured I get plenty of chances to tell my stories. It’s your turn. So head over there and read what we’ve posted. If you have something to share, read “Tell Your Story” to get more information about how to do just that. Let’s have lots of Violet Voices!

2) I’m now a freelance editor! My new editing service, The Fiction Fix-It Shop, is open for business, and I am having a blast meeting new clients and editing their work. So many creative people out there! If you write fiction and want to find out more, stop by. Also check out the FFS blog, Fiction Workbench, where you could have the chance to get a FREE CRITIQUE.

3) My second novel, @Home For The Holidays, will be available November 1, 2006. You can already pre-order it at Barnes and Noble, so what are you waiting for?

4) I had the honor of endorsing a couple of books in recent months. You really should check out Sharon Hinck, and her mom-lit novel, The Secret Life of Becky Miller. And also try out Scoop by my friend, Rene Gutteridge.

Other News:

I have several authors I partner with for critiquing. I thought you might enjoy some information on books that I helped critique. Being part of the “birthing process” for these stories have made them dear to my heart.

  1. Over The Waters, by my dear friend Deborah Raney.  Published September 2005 by my publisher, Steeple Hill, this book tells the story of a young woman whose dreams were dashed, but she finds a new destiny in Haiti. Be prepared for some very moving scenes involving adorable Haitian orphans and even some romance!
  2. Pieces of Silver, by my critique bud Maureen Lang. This book was released in March 2006 from Kregel, and it is a heart-wrenching story of love set in World War I. A young woman must choose between the man she once loved or her country. You’ll love it! The sequel, Remember Me, will be out soon.
  3. Rekindled, by another one of my critique buddies, Tamara Alexander. Also available March 2006, from Bethany House, it is the story of a rancher’s wife struggling to keep the ranch when her husband disappears and of the mysterious ranch hand whose past seems as badly scarred as his body. It’s a tremendous love story! Don’t miss the sequel, Revealed, coming in November 2006.
